Catherine Cheng Stahl is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Curriculum and
Teaching at Teachers College (TC), Columbia University, an instructor at the New York
University School of Professional Studies, and a researcher in the Digital Futures Institute at TC. Her research engages multimodal, ethnographic, and participatory methodologies to explore and elevate young people’s identity work and literacies as they play out in and across digital spaces. This research interest stems from both her own lived experiences as a t(w)een immersed in virtual worlds in the early 2000s and her seven years of hanging out with Gen Z youth as a high school teacher and undergraduate instructor.
