Karen Wohlwend (she/her)

Karen Wohlwend is Professor of Literacy, Culture, and Language Education at Indiana University, Bloomington. She studies young children’s play as an embodied literacy that produces action texts made with toys and moving bodies. This work reveals the inventive stories children create as they imagine together in the immersive play worlds that they create, whether at home or school or in video games or animation apps.
